Henry Saunders of Saunders Brothers in Westbrook has been a member of Rotary Club of Westbrook-Gorham for over 50 years. Henry has made several donations to the Rotary Foundation during those years to honor his late wife Marjorie, his father, his brother and his partner Karen Marie O’Reilly with Paul Harris Fellows.
Henry remembers the fear of contracting polio as he was growing up. He has often recalled a classmate who was afflicted with the disease. Since the late 1980s, Rotary has been focusing on fighting polio, and Henry has strongly supported that effort. As Rotary moves closer to finally eradicating polio from the world, Henry is interested in Rotary focusing on the next big challenge – Peace.
This year, with encouragement from our President Bill Chadwick and our Foundation Chair Steve Rand, Henry has become a major donor. That means that Henry, in his name alone, has donated at least $10,000 to the Rotary Foundation.
We are grateful to Henry for his support of our Club and of the Rotary Foundation.
