Album Name: Shaw Park Return to Albums
Description: Replacing old cabin with canoe storage shed.

This Old Cabin Removed and Replaced With a Canoe Storage Shed. The old cabin has been completely removed and the lot is ready for placing foundation posts. Floor units assembled by WRVC students arrive. (L) Cliff Plummer, Bill Onorato, Alan Tevanian in background, President Mike. Floor units are ready to be placed on posts within area delineated by blue tape. Locations of posts are precisely marked by (L) Walt Stinson and Eric Buckley who works with Walt at Sebago Technics. Dave Rolfe(C) observes.
President Mike operates post-hole digger, guided by Cliff Plummer, Dave Rolfe and Dick Lebrecque. Three posts have been installed today. Stopped work because heavy rain made ground a sloppy mess. Foundation posts and floor units installed. A heavy shower made working conditions sloppy again. Muddy river in background is evidence of heavy rains. Floor and deck (at left end) are in place. (L) President Mike Kane, Bob Nunley, Alan Tevanian Walls prefabricated by WRVC students and most of rafters are in place. The roof is in place awaiting shingles.

The shed is formally turned over to Gorham's Recreation Department at picnic attended by Rotary members, Shaw Brothers owners and Gorham officials Manager David Cole, Council Chairman Mike Phinney and Recreation Director Cindy Hazelton Gorham Recreation Director Cindy Hazelton describes the background, organization and many people involved in establishing Shaw Park.
